Terrell Stoglin gets MVP of the Week award for Basketball Africa League- March 11, 2022
The 30-year old guard had the game-high 34 points adding eight assists for AS Sale in his team's victory, helping them to beat Fer.Beira (#4, 1-2) 95-84. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. AS Sale is placed at 3rd position in Basketball Africa League. AS Sale is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Stoglin had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He has many years of experience at AS Sale, through which he has constantly improved. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young British forward Jermel Kennedy (201-F-1989) of Fer.Beira. Kennedy impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Fer.Beira to edge DUC Dakar (0-2) by 6 points 98-92. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Kennedy is one of the most experienced players at Fer.Beira and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.7ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 5.7rpg and 4.4apg. The third best performed player last round was Nigerian Christopher Obekpa (206-PF-1993, agency: Interperformances) of SLAC (#5). Obekpa showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Obekpa's great performance SLAC lost 81-83 to REG (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of SLAC not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Obekpa could try to bring SLAC's a little bit higher in the standings. Obekpa has a very solid season. In 3 games in Basketball Africa League he scored 14.3ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Hameed Ali (188-G-1993) of DUC Dakar - 26 points and 6 assists 5. Jawachi Nzeakor (206-F/C-1997) of SLAC - 17 points and 9 rebounds 6. Alvaro Masa (202-SF-1983) of AS Sale - 16 points and 13 rebounds 7. Helton Ubisse (201-C-1995) of Fer.Beira - 16 points and 8 rebounds 8. Jordan Aboudou (201-F-1991) of DUC Dakar - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists 9. William Perry (180-PG-1994) of Fer.Beira - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 10. Firas Lahyani (201-F-1991) of US Monastir - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
